 The king named Ahasuerus decides to have a 180 day party (feast) for all his princes and servants.  He showed them the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honor of his excellent majesty.  His wife Vashti, which was also the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which had also belonged to the king.  One day when the king was basically drunk on wine, he commanded his servants to bring his wife to him with the royal crown to show the people and the princes how beautiful she was.  But the queen refused, and the princes and the king came to an agreement that she should be banished for not following the king’s instruction.

 The king realized that he had missed his queen but however the deed was done and he could not have her back. So the king’s servants decide they're going to find him young virgins that king would like to marry.  So women from all over the provinces were brought to the palace.  And that’s when Esther comes in, she was a Jewish girl who had been taken captive after her parents died. She was adopted by a family member named Mordecai (leader of the Jewish people in exile) who had raised her as his own daughter even though he was her uncle. After a year of beauty treatment Esther was the fairest of them all. The king loved her more than any of the other virgins, to him she carried charm and favor so he placed on her head and made her queen.

 Haman the son Hamedatha was promoted by the king and he was above all the other princes in the kingdom so he was powerful, and all of the princes bowed down to him but Mordecai did not. And everybody questioned his reason of why he did not listen to the king’s commandment of Haman.  But only Mordecai knew that he hated the Jewish people and plotted to have them killed

 Mordecai quickly runs to the kingdom and tells the servant to deliver the message about Haman to her. She must go to the king and stop the plot from happening.  But Esther is afraid to approach the king because it was known that anyone that approached the king without being called could be killed but she becomes brave and thinks about her Jewish people and does what was she was asked.

 That day Esther puts on her royal robe, and approaches the king. Tells him that he and Haman are invited to the banquet that she had prepared for them: the king accepts the offers and says that whatever she had asked for would be granted.  After the feast, Haman sees Mordecai on his way home, Mordecai doesn’t bow and Haman is still mad. He comes home to his wife Zeresh and he tells her what happened and he should immediately build gallows to hang Mordecai.

 The king couldn’t sleep and demanded a servant to bring him the Book of Chronicles and read it to him.  In the book he remembered that he didn’t reward Mordecai for uncovering the plot of his life. he asks Haman how do you reward a loyal subject, he though it was him being rewarded he said that he should be allowed to wear the kings finest robes and ride round on the king’s steed. (During this, Haman was about to ask if he could have his permission to hang Mordecai.)  After the meal, the newly queen Esther revealed the plot that Haman had against the Jews and the king didn’t kike that too much so he had him hanged on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai.

 The king realized what Haman had done and allows Mordecai to take his place.  The king granted the Jews in every city were allowed to gather together, and defend themselves against those to who tried to assault them.  So on the 13 th day of Adar, they did. they defended themselves, and on the 14 th day they slain and destroyed the five hundred men of Shushan and hung the ten sons of Haman. And on the 15 th day of Adar the Feast of Purim was celebrated, it is an annual Jewish festival that commemorates the preservation of Jews by Queen Esther. The days were celebrated on joyous and happy occasions, and as a solemn and reminder of the day Haman planned the massacre.

 King Ahasuerus then laid a tribute on the land, and upon the isles of the sea.  And all the kings acts of his power and his might and greatness of Mordecai which the king promoted, are indeed recorded in the Book of Chronicles of the Kings of Media and Persia.  Mordecai promoted his peoples welfare and preached peace for all his descendants.

 To have courage and faithfulness; in the story Esther was scared to approach the king because people who were not summoned were killed but she did it anyway for her people.

I chose this as a connection because in the movie orphan, the little girl's name is actually Esther and she is actually an orphan. But in the movie she pretends to be a little girl so she can seduce the husband/ father in the household and kill everybody else so that she can be with him because she is actually a grown woman but is facing hypopituitarism, it is a hormone disorder that messes with her physical appearance. But the only differences between the two stories is that in the movie they try to make Esther this evil seductive, person and wanted things her way but in the bible she was the opposite she wanted things for her people, she didn’t want much, and she was a nice and PRETTY queen.
