Introduction  The following instructions are for changing a tail light bulb.  This will be useful for people who will like to learn how to change a tail light bulb or whose tail light bulb goes out.  This process should be done when a person notices that the tail lamp on his or her vehicle has gone out.  Safety precautions include making sure hands are dry and if preferred, wearing gloves.  The materials are a tail light bulb, vehicle, and wrench of appropriate size.

Procedure 1.) Go to the automotive aisle at any convenience or auto parts store, and find where the tail lights are located.

Procedure (continued) 2.) Obtain a tail light bulb that matches your vehicle model, year, and manufacturer using an in-print guide or electronic source.

Procedure (continued) 3.) Open the trunk, and remove the cover from the side of the vehicle that needs the light.

Procedure (continued) 4.) With the wrench, loosen the nuts from the bolts that hold the tail light component.

Procedure (continued) 5.) Remove the tail light component.

Procedure (continued) 6.) Untwist the tail light harness, and remove the bulb.

Procedure (continued) 7.) Insert and twist the new bulb in.

Procedure (continued) 8.) Place the tail light component back into the vehicle, and reapply the nuts onto the bolts.

Procedure (continued) 9.) Check to see if the tail light works by turning on your tail lights.

Conclusion  When purchasing your light bulb, be sure to check how long the light bulb lasts (warranty can range from one to three years) and how bright it is.  Caution: Every vehicle is different, so the process to change a tail light bulb may differ.  If you have any questions, call the manufacturer, or take your automobile to your local vehicle repair shop.
