1 Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Gifted Education Program Delivery Models From school to the world: All students prepared for productive futures

2 Georgia Law Georgia law mandates the identification, programs, and services for each gifted student. They also provide money to school districts for these gifted students. Children are required to receive a minimum of 5 segments per week. This may be accomplished through resource, cluster, collaborative, and/or advanced content delivery methods.

3 Methods of Service for GEP Resource (grades 1-5) Cluster Services (grades 1-8) Collaborative Services (grades 1-8) Advanced Content (grades 1-8)

4 RESOURCE Grades 1-5 45-50 minutes 4 days a week Resource Teachers a. 1 st - Whitney b. 2 nd – Harris and Sullivan c. 3 rd – Matthews d. 4 th – Larroude e. 5 th – Hoffman Enrichment Activities

5 Cluster Services Gifted certified classroom teacher Contract developed (with the GEP resource teacher and based on student strengths) a. Methods for differentiation b. Assessments Classroom teacher delivers

6 Collaborative Services Same features as the Cluster Model, requires contracts Exception- Teacher is not gifted certified, but meets weekly with a gifted certified teacher for support

7 Advanced Content Homogeneously grouped- a. 1 st -5 th = 21 b. 6 th -8 th = 25 Advanced and more sophisticated levels Gifted endorsed teacher No contracts

8 Continuation Policy All gifted students must maintain an 80% average in ALL areas where they receive gifted services. The grades are checked in January, after the first semester of each year.
