Grants/Credits HIP (Health In Pregnancy) Grant –For everyone –£190 per pregnancy (NB not baby!) –Claimable from 25/40 Child Tax Credits –For those on low income/benefits Sure-Start Maternity Grant –Low income/benefits –£500 per baby –Claim from 29/40 to 3/12 postnatal

Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) Claimable as long as you have worked for same employer for 26 weeks by the time you are 25/40, and earning £95/week Basic allowance is: 6/52 at 90% weekly pay 33/52 at 90% weekly pay or base rate of £123.06 However many employers have differing allowances, which is fine as long as they give the basic allowance Paid by employer Statutory Paternity Pay has same qualification criteria, and is 2/52 at £123.06 or 90% weekly pay

Maternity Allowance For those who do not qualify for SMP Self employed or recently employed Weekly earnings averaging £30/week and employed for total of 26 weeks in 66 week period leading up to due date 39/52 pay at basic rate of £123.06/week Paid by government
