4 Spelling Errors Using correct spelling helps readers understand what we have written. Common Spelling Mistakes there and their its and it’s than and then to, two, and too you’re and your were and we’re whose and who’s

5 Complete Sentences A complete sentence is a group of words that has a complete thought. It must have a subject and a verb. Which sentence below is not a complete sentence? I remembered to proofread my paper before handing it in to my teacher. Molly told me that her teacher gave her an A on her science project. Lots of homework. What is your favorite activity to do after school?

6 Correct Punctuation At the end of each sentence correct punctuation is needed to support your sentence. Use a question mark (?) after asking a question. Use a period (.) at the end of a statement or command. Use an exclamation point (!) at the end of a sentence to show strong feelings, a command, or something surprising.

7 Punctuation Activity Tell me which punctuation mark to use in the following sentences: What day is the spelling test on __ When we walk in the halls, we use our quiet voices __ I said, “Sit down__” ?. !

8 More Punctuation Use a comma (,) to separate ideas in a sentence or to separate two adjectives. Use an apostrophe (’) to indicate possession and when using contractions. Use quotation marks (“”) to represent that someone is speaking.

10 Correct Capitalization We use capital letters to begin a sentence and when we use a proper noun.

We got to see monkeys giraffes elephants penguins and even a polar bear? My favorite kind of animal was the penguins. Because they are fun to watch while they are swimming. My friend toms favorite animal was the Tiger. miss hall told our class we were lucky because not two many classes are able to go on field trips like we all ways do. I hope we go on another trip soon. Maybe to the science museum.
