COOL MATH STUFF After doing some research on cement, I found. The Dark parts are where the least heat leaks out of a building. And in fact It is my belief that the heat leaked out through the cement is little enough that for the sake of this argument it can be ignored completely. This Leaves us with just Windows. It's helpful to the efficiency of the building that the windows in these great buildings are generally quite small. Again for the sake of argument we'll say the average classroom has 4 windows that are each 2mx.5m Using the equation for thermal conductivity, and some generalizations as to the numbers that should go into said equation, we end up with a semi-useful number. Q=Energy Lost k=.96 (coefficient of thermal conductivity) A= 4m^2 (surface Area) T= 20C (Temperature difference between inside and outside) d=.5m Q= kAT/d Q=3MJ
