The Problems © 2008 IOTO International Inc. For IOTO client information only. Not to be copied or disseminated without the explicit prior permission of IOTO International Inc. Can I take public transit to get back to my hotel? Which bus do I take? Where do I catch it? Do I need exact change? When will it get me there? I’m hungry, can we get something to eat? Where has my hotel shuttle gone? When is it going to get here? Where do I catch it? Is there a better service than transit? The bus is such a drag. I wish there was another way of getting to Capilano Suspension Bridge. The lot is always full I’d go more often if I didn’t have to take my car. Great attraction! I love that river! Where do we go next? Being surrounded by all those big trees and the flowing river! Nature is certainly a value worth preserving! I’m so glad you care for the planet like I do. Could you call me a taxi? How long does it take to get to downtown? How much will it cost?

Capilano Suspension Bridge → VAG Bus stop 20m South Bus 246 Bus 240 45 mins $2.50 EXACT CHANGE ONLY We can get sushi on the way! Hey! I got us tickets for the Quick shuttle. It’s more expansive than transit, but gets us there way faster and I didn’t have rustle up exact change. We board at bay 4. We’ve got half an hour to hit the gift shop! You can shop in the Village if you want. I’m going to use this coupon code to get to the Suspension Bridge. Supposedly they have a transportation kiosk at Edgemont where I can catch a shuttle. I haven’t been on that bridge since I went as a kid! I’m so stoked! Supposedly Cleveland Dam is a popular walk from here. It will only take us about a half hour. Yeah, it was a good thing we could easily get a shuttle from the Capilano kiosk downtown. Much easier on the planet than renting a car, and we didn’t get caught in that fuming traffic jam getting on the bridge! The Solution Information Platform. The solution displays a decision matrix to the user showing, time, money, and CO2 which are standardized for easy comparison across different modes of transportation services available to the location. Transaction Platform. The solution offers a “one-stop shop” for transportation services offered. It implements a payment platform where users can quickly purchase their trip directly – oppose to the many ambiguities with paying at service booths and drivers. Web-based Application. The solution is web-based, allowing it to be easily deployed on the Capilano Suspension website and various devices such as kiosks and computers. Data-mining. The solution can be used to discover niche markets or customer segments by studying where customers are coming from. It can help refine, optimize and determine new or existing collection-points. © 2008 IOTO International Inc. For IOTO client information only. Costs Benefits Environmental – Providing adequate transportation information for passengers, creates a modal shift towards more environmental forms of transportation – “21 to 28% of trips are not taken by more efficient means because of information inefficiency in transportation markets”. Minimize Cost and Resources – Reduce human capital and other related costs by leveraging an automated “transportation service desk”. Minimize Parking Demand – Decrease congestion and parking demand and potential traffic accidents at Capilano by providing convenient, easy access to alternative modes of travel than the private automobile Increase Customer Traffic – Reach out to customers by first determining where they are coming from, then making it more convenient and easy for them to come and go. Are a function of the number of deployment types, the level of programming and data-mining required. [Enter Text Here]

Benefits Cont’d Decrease Waiting Times – Perceived wait times are 20% shorter when arrival times are known. Shorter waits and nicer waiting conditions are symbols of status. Information concerning delays and expected arrival times indicate respect for passengers. Maximize Benefits – People have diverse mobility needs and preferences, improved options allows individuals to choose the best one for each trip. Having clear options available allows people to select the option that minimizes costs, including travel time costs, and maximizes benefits. Valuable Information - Travelers significantly value transportation information. Travelers are willing to pay up to $1.00 per trip for convenient and accurate travel- time predictions, such as when traffic is delayed and alternative routes would be faster. The value of this information is higher for commuting, special event trips, and when there is heavy congestion. [Enter Text Here]
