A group discussion to identify the advantages and disadvantages of different lubricants 1. Demonstrate the impact of lubricants by placing similar objects on inclined surfaces and using different lubricants (oil, grease, soap, water, etc.) to facilitate sliding 2. Investigate lubrication methods by viewing different bearing types 3. Discuss the consequences of increased friction occurring in bearings due to a lack of lubrication 4. Tabulate the results from the group discussion to highlight advantages and disadvantages of different lubricants and factors influencing the choice of lubricants Notional Hours 6
