8
Co-teaching Models One teach, one assist (supportive) Complimentary Parallel Station Team Alternative
9
One Teach, One Assist One teacher teaches, while the other supports in the instructional process
10
Parallel The class is divided into two heterogeneous groups Each teacher instructs half of the class Groups face away from each other while the teachers face one another
11
Station The class is divided into three heterogenous groups Students rotate among three stations Each teacher provides instruction at one of the stations, while one station is an “independent” activity
12
Team Students remain in large group setting Teachers work as a team to introduce new content, clarify information, role play, model appropriate behaviors, etc. Two teachers, two different voices (like news anchors on TV)
13
Alternative Most students remain in large group Some students work in a small group for reteaching, preteaching, enrichment, or other individualized instruction Example: small group is created at the end of the lesson for reteaching while others begin independent practice.

What are the pros and cons of each approach? Discuss with your group and report back.
