2 Producer Provides Finances ($$$) Hires Director & Creative Staff Pays Bills Manage Business Side of Show Responsible for the entire production and funding it

3 Director Responsible for the creative aspect of the production Directs the actors Interprets the script Coordinates the design and technical elements of the production Works with choreographer

4 Stage Manager In complete charge backstage Runs rehearsals and performances. Oversees all backstage elements of the production. Schedules rehearsals. Monitors script and keeps “prompt book” Calls the show

5 Choreographer Creates dance routines for the production Teaches the dances to the cast. May choreograph fight scenes. May help choreograph stage movement of large groups.

6 Music Director Responsible for the music in the production Creates original music. Teaches the music to actors & orchestra. Rehearses music with actors & orchestra. May conduct the orchestra.

7 Set Designer Responsible for the design of all scenic elements of the production Works with the director to determine how the set should look. Oversees the creation of the set. Stay within the scenic budget.

8 Lighting Designer Responsible for the lighting in the production Works with director and set designer to determine what lighting should be used. Creates and oversees operation of lighting effects. Creates lighting plot

9 Costume Designer Responsible for the costumes in the production Prepares costume designs for all characters. Chooses patterns & fabric for costumes. Oversees construction & alteration of costumes. May be responsible for hair and make-up (in smaller theatres)

10 Prop Master/Manager Responsible for all the props used in the production Works with director to determine which props are needed. Collects, buys or makes all props. Organizes & manages props.

11 Sound Designer Responsible for all the sound in the production Creates sound effects the director wants in the production. Responsible for microphones & amplification of sound effects.

12 Make Up Designer Responsible for all the make-up for the characters in the production Works with director to create make-up designs for each character. May also be responsible for hair. Responsible for creation of special effects make- up if needed.

13 Program Manager Responsible for the show’s program Designs program, which includes information about the production and the actors’ names. May be responsible for selling advertisements for the program.

14 Publicity Manager Responsible for publicizing the production Creates news releases Posters Billboards Commercials Radio Advertisements

15 House Manager Responsible for non-stage area Responsible for lobby (which may include concessions.) Audience control during performances. Responsible for House Crew (which includes Ushers.)

16 Ticket Manager Responsible for tickets Ticket design Ticket sales Ticket distribution
