DAY 1 Run-on sentence – results when two main or independent clauses are joined without correct punctuation or a correct coordinating conjunction A run-on sentence can contain Two main clauses separated only by a comma or no punctuation Ex. I saw the hawk, it circled overhead. The bird flew to the feeder and it ate all the seed. Two main clauses with no comma before the coordinating conjunction Ex. The dog was panting and it was in distress. Discuss run-on sentences using page 453 of the Grammar Handbook.

DAY 2 comma splice - the use of a comma in a run-on sentence that has two main clauses Ex. My sister went to the beach, she rode her bicycle there. To correct a comma splice, replace the comma with a period and create two sentences. Ex. My sister went to the beach. DAY 3 Divide the run-on sentence into two sentences. Change the run-on sentence to a compound sentence connected by a comma and a coordinating conjunction. Insert a semicolon or a conjunction into the run-on sentence. Refer to page 453 of your Grammar Handbook.
