Paul Revere There goes Paul! Paul Revere was a person who was always busy, swift and on the go! He had tons of wonderful and different jobs. Amazingly, there were too many to count! Paul Revere was also the leader of the Sons of Liberty. The Sons of Liberty were a secret club that rebelled against the king’s taxes. So the Sons of Liberty did what is now known as the Boston Tea Party. Now, this wasn’t some tea pot, frilly dresses and fancy jewelry thing. Oh no. In fact, it was the exact opposite! They actually dumped 10,000, yes, 10,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor. Paul Revere also spied on the British. And he was also the fastest express rider around. But later he was chosen to do something even more important. He was chosen to warn all the colonists that the British were coming. This is now known as his “Famous Midnight Ride.” Knowing all this about Paul Revere must show you that he was one of the biggest heroes of the Revolutionary War. As you can see, Paul Revere was very busy and brave.

Benjamin Franklin Benjamin Franklin did many amazing things for our country. He was born on January 17, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts. As an adult, he had many jobs. He was a businessman, writer, publisher, scientist, diplomat and social activist. He invented some things that amazingly, changed our country. He invented the Franklin Stove, lightning rod, and bifocal glasses. He was also the person who harnessed electricity. But he also established the first postal service, library, fire department and hospital for Philadelphia. He also built the University of Philadelphia. Later, he signed the Declaration of Independence. Sadly, he died on April 17, 1790. Knowing all the things Franklin did, everyone should see the wonderful things he did that helped our country on it’s way to freedom.

The Battle of Saratoga The Battle of Saratoga was fought in upstate New York. It was the turning point of the American Revolution. It permanently ended the British’s dreams of dividing the colonies. General John Burgoyne was the commander of the British. Leading the colonists was General Horatio gates. As Burgoyne and his men chased after the Americans, the Americans chopped down trees and bridges to stall the British so they could set up a camp. The colonists greatly outnumbered the British. After the horrible battle was over, the British lost 1,600 men and 6,000 were captured. The Americans only lost 800. The Battle of Saratoga helped the Americans win our freedom.
