2  1948 – Truman signed an order that stated that all people in the armed services should be treated equally.  1954 – The supreme court rules on the land mark case.  1955- Rosa Parks refuses to give up her seat on the bus.  1957 – Formerly all white central High School learns that integration is easier said than done.  1960 – Student nonviolent coordinating committee is founded at Shaw University.  1961 – Student Volunteers begin taking bus trips through the South.

3 1968 – Martin Luther King, at age 39 got shot as he stands on the balcony outside his hotel room. 1988 – President Reagan veto, congress passes The Civil Rights Restoration Act. 1991 – President George Bush reverses himself and signs the Civil Rights Act. 2006 - Coretta Scott King dies of a stroke. 2008 – Senator Edward Kennedy introduces the Civil rights act.

4  Born February 4,1913  Was homeschooled until she was eleven.  Went to Alabama state which was a teachers college for negroes for her secondary education.  Throughout her life, she had seen segregation between the white and black people.  In the public transportation system the buses were segregated.  Rosa parks had gotten arrested for not giving up her seat.

5 ~ In August of 1994 Joseph Skipper broke in the apartment of Rosa Parks. ~ He didn’t know that it was Rosa Parks living there, so he apologized of what he did and returned all the items he took. ~ Spoke about her passion to people. ~She became a major proponent of the Civil Rights Movement. ~ She’s someone you can look up to. ~ She never lost desire to see equality for all men and women.

7  We should treat one another the way you would like to be treated.  No matter what color we are we all should respect each other the same.  We should include one another in activities that we do.  We should get to know people, before we start to judge them.  Do kind things for each other.
