3. 02 December 2003 Babar Ahmad was arrested in London on 02 December 2003 under the Terrorism Act 2000 He was brutally assaulted and tortured by British Anti- Terrorist Police, despite making no attempts to resist arrest He was left with 50+ injuries to his body, some of which were life threatening such as bleeding in the ears and urine After six days, he was released WITHOUT CHARGE Babar Ahmad filed a formal complaint against the Police

Photographs, video evidence, eye- witness accounts and numerous medical reports from independent Medical Consultants were provided during the investigation On 05 September 2004, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided that there was ‘insufficient evidence’ to prosecute the Police Officers Is this British justice??

6. 05 August 2004 Babar Ahmad was re-arrested on an extradition warrant from the USA It is alleged that he solicited fundraising for rebels in Chechnya and Afghanistan using the Internet from 1998 to 2003 During this period he was permanently resident in the UK and in full-time employment

7. Allegations, Truth or Lies? Among the allegations are that Babar Ahmad had a 1960’s/1970’s tourist brochure of the Empire State Building It was reported by some American and British media that he was planning an attack on it Brochure in fact belongs to his father, who went to the Empire State Building in 1973 Surely if someone were to be planning an attack would they not want a more up to date version??? It is also alleged that Babar Ahmad had email contact with a US Naval Serviceman on board a US Naval ship The dates given in fact coincide with the day of his wedding and whilst on honeymoon on a remote tropical island with no Internet facilities for its guests at the time

New Extradition Act 2003 This was fast-tracked into UK legislation in 2003 without formal consultative parliamentary process by David Blunkett It allows the UK to extradite any individual to the US WITHOUT the need for the US to provide prima facie evidence Under the new Act, Babar Ahmad is not allowed to defend himself against any ‘evidence’ provided by the US despite the fact that this ‘evidence’ may be false, unreliable or obtained by torture

Woodhill Prison Babar Ahmad is a British Citizen and remains in custody at HM Prison Woodhill His main extradition hearing in due to begin in mid November 2004 If extradited to the US he could to face a possible 50 years to life imprisonment However, he still does not face any charges under British Law He may be extradited without ever having the chance to challenge any evidence presented by the US against him

10. Why We Must Refuse this Extradition If Babar Ahmad is extradited to the US, it is likely that he will face physical, mental and sexual abuse like other Muslims accused of terror activities have experienced
