10  Divide the page into 2 parts, the left side about 2-3 inches  wide  The right side of the page is used for taking notes during class  The left side is used for cues, questions, or key words during or after class  Choose whatever note system works for the right side  Leave 2-3 inches at the bottom of the page

11 To use the system, begin taking notes in class. You may use any system that works for you for the actual notes. This style is called linear notes. You simply record most of what the teacher says. This is not the best system. It takes too much time, and you typically are trying to remember exact words rather than ideas. You would probably do better to learn one of the systems we discussed. This side will be used for recording key terms, vocab words, main ideas. This helps you remember the lecture and study notes quickly. Or questions.
