In your Policies and Procedures packet, turn to Today you will be reading the section “CELL PHONE POLICY” (located on the 3 rd page) Remember to: Scan the page Look for headings, words/phrases, images/charts Preparing to Read

Before reading and taking notes, REVISIT the essential question to focus your reading and note taking… EQ: What are important school wide policies and procedures and how do they affect me as a student? Preparing for Focused Notes

Now READ the section on “Cell Phone Policy” Starts: “Students are allowed to carry their cell phones on campus. However, with this privilege comes… Ends: “… Student Placement Review Committee (SPRC) for a possible transfer, cell phone confiscated and returned to parent” Preparing for Focused Notes

BEFORE we take notes, REMEMBER… Some quick TIPS for taking notes SKIP lines between ideas AVOID writing complete sentences USE symbols, abbreviations, graphics when possible INDENT to show relationships between ideas Preparing for Focused Notes

Before writing your notes, ask yourself- What is the main idea of this section of text? HINT: Look at the heading How should you write this main idea in your notes? HINT: Look at the other main ideas in your notes Write the main idea of the text in your notes… Taking Focused Notes
