Facts and information Founder of modern educational philosophy. He was born in 1632 in Wrighton, Somerset. His father was a lawyer and small land owner. John Locke’s closest female friend was the philosopher Lady Damaris Cudworth Masham. He went to West Minister School. He studied medicine at Oxford University.

His Theory His theory was called The Blank Slate theory. The Blank Slate theory says that thoughts are formed first through exposure to different sensations followed by reflection on experiences. Simple things such as shapes are gathered passively, while things complicated like cause and effect are actively built.
