7 INTRODUCTION CONICYT CHILE LAUNCHED IN 2001 THE CHILEAN NODE OF THE APEC-VC FOR ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY EXCHANGE. AIM: TO INCREASE THE ACCESSIBILITY TO INFORMATION ON ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGIES THAT ARE AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE.

8 OBJECTIVES OBJECTIVES FACILITATE THE EXCHANGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION WITHIN APEC ECONOMIES. PROMOTE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES EXCHANGE TECHNOLOGY AND PRODUCT INFORMATION OF THE CHILEAN ENVIRONMENTAL INDUSTRY. PROVIDE THE LATEST UPDATED CHILEAN INFORMATION ABOUT ENVIRONMENT: POLLUTION, TECHNOLOGIES, LAWS, REGULATIONS, POLICIES, MEASURES AND PROJECTS. CONTRIBUTE TO ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IN CHILE.

9 RELEVANCE THE FIRST APEC-VC NODE IN SPANISH LANGUAGE. PROVIDED INFORMATION OF APEC-VCs AVAILABLE TO LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES AND SPAIN (ABOUT 400 MILLIONS INHABITANTS). HIGH NUMBER OF VISITS (60.644 MARCH 2006-2007)

10 THE MAIN PROBLEM OF THE VC CHILEAN NODE WAS THE LACK OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT MAKES DIFFICULT TO: IMPROVE THE WEB SITE QUALITY AND TECHNOLOGY PROVIDE INFORMATION IN A SECOND LANGUAGE, USEFUL FOR ALL THE PARTICIPANT ECONOMIES (ENGLISH) THE CHILEAN APEC-VC, FINISH TO UPLOAD INFORMATION IN 2007 PROBLEMS

11 Rebuild the web site to meet the objectives of the New APEC-VC project 2012-2017. Strengthening Chile APEC-VC by adding new items to the common classification system, enrich content uploaded and improve the convenience of searching method. Diffuse and promote the information on environment and energy conservation technologies, environmental protections measures and policies. To diffuse APEC growth strategies with the aim to achieve economic growth sustainable, innovative and secure. TASKS FOR THE NEW APEC-VC PROJECT

12 Improve the access to environmental goods and services and links this to development of a Chilean Industry environmentally friendly. Promote related business, by disseminating information on these technologies through the framework of APEC-VC-Chile. Promote the findings or lessons learned from previous APEC-VC projects. Promote the project in the public and private sector. Find Beneficiaries for this APEC project

14 KEY ISSUES CLIMATE CHANGE Chile account for only 0.26% of global emissions of green house gases, however these are growing rapidly. The energy sector contributes in a dominant and growing national emission values ​​, with an increase of 145% (1991 – 2011), reaching in 2010 a value of 69.7 million tonnes of CO 2 Source Ministery of Energy 2011. www.minenergia.cl

19 EFFICIENCY ACTION PLAN ENERGY 2020 (PAEE20) The Action Plan aims to achieve a 12% reduction in projected energy demand in 2020, based on 2010. This would lead to fewer Tcal estimated 43,000 in 2020, representing just for electricity that is left to consume, a power displaced about 1,100 MW with consequent economic benefits to the country. Achieving this goal will generate additional benefits such as higher levels of industry production and lower CO 2 emissions, among others
