Use Scenarios Multi-Disciplinary Senior Design I Rochester Institute of Technology

Scientist analyzes data and can confirm, disprove, or produce more thoughts in regards to their initial hypothesis. Scientist develops a hypothesis regarding marine life and/environment. Underwater fish is deployed. Underwater fish is controlled by scientist, who moves around desired target specimen or target, collecting data in the process. Underwater fish is retrieved and data is transferred to useable form.

Military can analyze information and notify various fields regarding loss prevention and/or enemy actions. Military Applications: Prevention of accidents and deaths Track enemy submarines without detection. Military officers find need to track underwater efforts with minimal cost and detection. Underwater fish is deployed and able to watch underwater workers and/or track enemy submarines without detection. Underwater fish can collect and relay information to the necessary officers and/or workers.

Researcher deploys retrieval equipment to accurate location and recovers lost equipment. Cost savings by surveillance first and then deploying large retrieval equipment later. Researcher loses valuable equipment underwater. Needs to relocate with minimal cost to project and with minimal disturbance to the natural environment. Underwater fish is deployed in a surveillance effort. Can include camera and deliver live feed back to researcher. Underwater fish is able to relay information on the objects it encounters while swimming around. Researcher is able to analyze the information to help locate lost equipment.

Researcher can present findings to government and scientific fields with significant background data. Researcher wishes to study local underwater environment. Example: To understand a new change introduced to the environment like, the waste water from a nuclear power plant. Underwater fish is deployed in a surveillance effort. Underwater fish is able collect data and surveillance footage and relay that information to the researcher. Researcher is able to analyze the information and formulate the benefits/negatives of the new aspect to the environment and/or use research to use data to understand the local ecosystem.

Crew utilizes data to make adjustments in their methods to improve production while maintaining environmental friendliness. Oil crew wants to see beneath water in a non-invasive way Deploys fish from rig/ship Underwater fish is swims beneath the region collecting data. Fish sends data back to crew.

Researcher can analyze information and notify various fields regarding scientific findings or debris removal efforts. Natural Disaster or Event occurs. Example: Hurricane Sandy Debris has been introduced to the local underwater environment. Storm may change the environment layout. Local underwater animals react to storm. Researcher can deploy underwater fish to look for debris and notify authorities, study the layout of underwater landscape, and/or observe animal reactions before/during/after storms. Underwater fish can collect and relay information to research. The underwater fish can collect data and find debris in areas inaccessible to humans and larger equipment.
