Projectiles Horizontal Projection Horizontally: Vertically: Vertical acceleration g 9.8 To investigate the motion of a projectile, its horizontal and vertical motions are considered separately. u ms -1 x Constant velocity equation y Projectile is a particle No air resistance

Projectiles Horizontally : Vertically : Initial velocity is zero A particle is projected with a speed of 25 ms -1 from a point 60 m above a horizontal surface. Find the time taken by the particle to reach the surface and the horizontal distance travelled in that time. Example 1
3
Projectiles Horizontally : Vertically : A particle is projected with a speed of 16 ms -1. Find the horizontal and vertical displacements of the particle from the point of projection after 2 seconds. Find also how far the particle then is from the point of projection. Example 2 Displacement =

Projectiles Horizontally : Vertically : A particle is projected horizontally from a point 120m above a horizontal plane. The particle hits the plane at a point which is, horizontally, 70m from the point of projection. Find the initial speed of the particle. Example 3
5
Projectiles Horizontally : Vertically : A particle is projected horizontally with a velocity of 6 ms -1. Find the horizontal and vertical components of the velocity of the particles 4 seconds after projection. Find also, the speed and direction of the particle at this time. Example 4 Constant velocity Below horizontal
