Differences between Qualitative & Quantitative Research Qualitative research explores *attitudes * behaviour * experiences with such methods : - interviews or focus groups to get an in-depth opinion from participants = fewer people take part in the research, but the contact with these people tends to last a lot longer. Quantitative research * use of large-scale survey research, using methods such as questionnaires or structured interviews. of quantitative research. This type of research includes many more people, but the contact with those people is much quicker than it is in qualitative research. =classical scientific research model -involves gathering data that is numerical data, so that it can be examined in as unbiased a manner as possible

Action Research Action research is not what usually comes to mind when we hear the word “research.” Action research is not a library project to learn more about a topic that interests us. It is not problem-solving in the sense of trying to find out what is wrong, but rather to learn knowledge about how to improve. Action research is not about doing research on or about people, or finding all available information on a topic looking for the correct answers. It involves people working to improve their skills, techniques, and strategies. Action research is not about learning why we do certain things, but rather how we can do things better. It is about how we can change our instruction to impact students.
