7 7 Modular Coil Structural Shell Model #1 Objective: Determine primary stress/deflection in a 120-deg model due to EM, thermal loads Evaluate stress in shell, tee, winding pack assuming full bonded interface Determine behavior of wing regions with/without joining to adjacent shell Calculate reaction force at flange bolt locations Status: Shell is fully meshed, tee and wing geom to be added Loads for 1.9-T @ 0.194-s are available 326 volumes including shells and insulations

8 8 Modular Coil Structural Shell Model #2 Objective: Plate element approach, can be developed quickly Confirm primary stress/deflection results from Model #1 Evaluate shell thickness, port opening variations if needed Status: FE model being considered as ProE shell geometry is developed, however no one is working on the model directly. Method of applying ANSYS EM analysis results has been developed in case MAGFOR results are not available.
