Federal Aviation Administration 2 IACRA FY 2006 Presentation Synopsis This presentation provides a walkthrough (with accompanying screenshots) of an applicant applying for a Private Pilot certification. Additionally, the presentation shows how all associated members of the process (Designated Examiner, Recommending Instructor, etc) use IACRA to complete this private pilot certification. Information on additional certifications is provided at the end of the this presentation.

IACRA, the Integrated Airman Certification and/or Rating Application, is a web-based application that uses online validation and digital signatures to verify the output data. Upon successful completion of the IACRA process, the Registry issues applicants a permanent airman certificate.

Federal Aviation Administration 29 IACRA FY 2006 IACRA Walkthrough Introduction The following demonstration shows how to use IACRA in a typical 14 CFR part 61 certification process scenario. This walkthrough shows the following: 1.The IACRA registration process. 2.An applicant filling out the application. 3.The RI selecting the application, following all items on the RI Checklist, and adding a digital signature. 4.The Certifying Officer (DE) selecting the application, validating the airman’s ID, and reviewing the airman test results. 5.The applicant digitally signing the application. 6.The CO (DE) entering test results, entering limitations, and performing all of the other tasks on the Certifying Officer checklist. 7.The CO (DE) digitally signing the application. 8.An example of a temporary certificate.

Federal Aviation Administration 37 IACRA FY 2006 Transition At this point, the Applicant Registration is complete and an FAA Tracking Number (FTN) has been generated for the applicant, which he records for future use. The Recommending Instructor must now register (for the purposes of this overview – though in reality, the RI could have registered long before or even after the applicant). The RI registration is far less complex than the applicant registration. This is due to the validation process IACRA uses to ensure that the data requested from the RI at registration is validated in national FAA databases as being accurate and current.

The CO takes his applicant for his practical test for certification in accordance with Practical Test Standards. Upon their return, the CO logs back into IACRA via the IACRA Home Page. The CO selects the application, enters practical test results, and finishes the application process.
