Student Council Guidelines 1. Attend all meetings and perform all assigned responsibilities at activities/events. Three unexcused absences will result in dismissal from Student Council. Parent or doctor notes must be given to sponsor within a week of missing the meeting to be excused.

Student Council Guidelines 2. Contribute time and effort to help make Student Council sponsored activities the best they can be.

Student Council Guidelines 3. Act responsibly at all meetings and activities/events and as a leader at RKS. Three referrals or ADAPT/Court School will result in an immediate dismissal from the Student Council.

Student Council Guidelines 4. Student Council representatives should maintain a 2.0 with no F’s on their nine weeks report card for any subject. Anyone with a grade point average (GPA) lower than a 2.0 will be on probation until the next report card is checked. If the GPA is still below 2.0, the student will be dismissed from Student Council.

Student Council Guidelines 5. Good citizenship and attitude is a Student Council expectation. Student Council members are leaders and a positive attitude must be maintained at all times. Bullying or disrespect towards peers or adults is not allowed. If this occurs, the student risks being dismissed from Student Council.

Return the Student Council Guidelines sheet signed by you and your parent by the next meeting in order to attend.

Student Council Pledge I am a leader because I care. I am responsible for my school, my student body, and myself. I am a leader because I have a voice. I am student council.

Meetings will consist of student council business, an activity, and a social with snacks and drinks. We need your help to make this happen. Come with a positive attitude and a cooperative spirit (plus some snacks to share)

Robert’s Rules of Order The members rule through a decision-making process that they’ve established by a vote. Ideas come from the members and are presented to the assembly to decide upon. Leaders come from the people through an election process. All members are equal — they have equal rights and responsibilities. The organization is run with impartiality and fairness The majority rules, but the rights of the minority and absent members are protected.

Robert’s Rules of Order Everything is accomplished in the spirit of openness, not secrecy. Members have the right to resign from office or from the organization Take up business one item at a time. Promote courtesy, justice, impartiality, and equality. The majority rules, but the rights of individual, minority, and absent members are protected. Members take turns speaking. In debate, members do not cross talk, or talk directly to each other, when another member is speaking. Members speak clearly and loudly so all can hear. Members listen when others are speaking. The presiding officer doesn’t take sides but allows all to be heard equally in debate. Members have a right to be informed of the work of the organization.
