GPS Requirements All students who complete one of the following pathways will be honored at Cum Laude and at graduation. GPS Certificate GPS Diploma Completion of Seminars I, II, III and IV Completion of GPS World Cultures and GPS US History. Alternates: AP European History, AP US History Completion of AT LEAST ONE of the GPS-designated electives, currently including Level III or IV World Language GPS Humanities I (AcaDeca) GPS Intercultural Speech Communication GPS World Masterpieces AP Human Geography Completion of Seminars I, II, III and IV Completion of required and elective coursework listed under GPS Certificate Completion of AT LEAST TWO GPS-designated electives. Completion of A-G requirements for CSU/UC admission. A special seal will appear on your diploma.

GPS I: Global Careers/Education, Global Awareness Meets during PAWS, about twice a month. Usually meets in the THEATER. Curriculum includes Guest Speaker Series Group Activities

Guest speakers from industry, local government, local universities, share their experiences with our students to provide a broader understanding of our place in the world Past speakers have included: Peace Corps representatives Intel representatives Local/global politicians/business representatives International Students from CSUS

Attendance is REQUIRED.

GPS Seminar III: Global Service Seminar III focuses on SERVICE WITH A GLOBAL CONNECTION. Meets in the LIBRARY, during PAWS, once a month. Attendance at all sessions is REQUIRED. Guest speakers will address global issues with tangible service opportunities available. Examples: Run For Courage, Upendo Women’s Foundation, International Rescue Committee Other service opportunities will be available through participation in the GPS Club. All GPS participants must complete a MINIMUM of 8 hours of approved global community service in order to complete Seminar III.

GPS Seminar IV: Independent Global Project Students meet with project advisors to design, implement, research and present their capstone projects. Approved projects must have a CLEAR GLOBAL CONNECTION and be associated with a RECOGNIZED INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION. Project topics have included: Women’s Health/Upendo Foundation Sustainable Prosthetics/Limbs International Fighting Human Trafficking/Courage Worldwide
