ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 2 Emergency Action Plan  The emergency action plan (EAP) should be customized to fit the needs of the organization.  An EAP outlines a systematic approach to be followed in an emergency; this aids in avoiding mistakes and inadequate treatment.

ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 3 Emergency Action Plan (cont.)  The athletic training staff should have clearly defined roles for an emergency –Immediate care of the athlete –Retrieval of the emergency equipment –Activation of the EMS system Have available the name, address, and phone number of the caller, the number of athletes injured, their condition, and treatment currently being provided at the scene. –Direction of the EMS system to the scene
