There are 3 countries in mainland of North America. These are the countries: United States Canada Mexico

North America is home to many unique animals. First, the eagle lives in North America. It is the United States National bird. It eats smaller animals, especially fish. Next is the Collared Peccary. They live in family groups. Peccaries are hardly seen by humans, because they are highly secretive. They live in the Southern United States and can be found in the desert. They are known to eat the prickly pear. Third, is the buffalo. Buffalo live in herds As they travel they eat grass and will swim across rivers.

The first animal is the chipmunk. There are 21 kinds of chipmunks in North America and 5 in Canada. They usually live 2 or 3 years. The next animal is the wolf. The wolf lives in a group or pack. There is one wolf that is the leader of the pack. They hunt meat, mostly deer for their meals. Finally, the Kodiak bear. The Kodiak bears are the largest bears in the world. While they may grow to over 1,000 pounds, the average adult male weighs between 600-900. Although they eat fish, they eat more grass, plants and berries than meat.

North America is a large continent. Because of it’s size is has many different types of weather. Some places are hot and humid, while others are cold and dry.

Mount Rushmore – this is a national memorial located in South Dakota. Each face is of a US president and is 40 feet tall.

Chateau Frontenac – This is a hotel built in Quebec Canada. It is looking over the Saint Lawrence River.

Catedral Metropolitana de Guadalajara – The cathedral was originally built in 1561. The spires were rebuilt to replace the originals which fell to the ground after and earthquake in 1818. The cathedral contains sixteen bells.

Niagara Falls is located between Canada and the United States. It is the 7th natural wonder of the world. There are three sets of falls; the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Canadian/Horseshoe Falls.

Redwood Forest is made up of gigantic trees. It is located in California. These trees are 250 feet tall and 30 feet around.
