Slide 4 Location Issues Summer 2003: Decision to co-locate with PODC in Seattle ~January 2004: Seattle falls through ACM will not let Sandia negotiate the rates –Would probably also have required some formal sponsor relationship –Best rate ACM could negotiate in Santa Fe was $149/night Note: given timing and location, this was a good rate

5. Slide 5 Las Vegas in 2005: July 17-20 Alexis Park Resort –$79/night –Should be reasonable airfare and connections especially within US –Really is (supposed to be) parklike, 20 acres 3 pools (2 are 24-hour) –No casino –1 mile from the strip –Close to UNLV –Close to the airport (but no obvious noise problem) –Rooms supposedly recently renovated
