Key Words: appositive Notes/examples: Appositive = a word or group of words that explains the noun. Appositives are set off by a comma, or two commas if in the middle Let’s Try It: Gruffy, my cat, unfortunately is bad-tempered. Sal wants to climb Mt. Everest, one of the tallest mountains in the world.

Add an appositive to each sentence. My favorite book is in the library. The library has a copy of my favorite book.
