May 11, 2004 4 Ordnance and Tactical Systems What is ACSW? A CSW Program Started in 1994 l Lightweight, Crew Portable Weapon System l 25mm Family of Ammunition l 250 SPM l Full Ballistic Solution l Programmable Ammunition with Muzzle Velocity Correction l TA/FCS Laser Range Finder & Target Tracking

May 11, 2004 5 Ordnance and Tactical Systems ACSW Family: XM307, XM307K50 (XM312) l. 50 cal variant of the ACSW l Part interchangeability with XM307, only 5 parts are different l First demonstrated January 7, 2003 l Performance & physical characteristics exceed other crew-type.50 cal weapons l Development of XM307K50 (XM312) will accelerate ACSW maturity l Fires standard.50 cal ammunition with M15A2 links

May 11, 2004 16 Ordnance and Tactical Systems Recovery from Disabled Vehicle l Lightweight capability enables the gunner to remove the weapons system from the destroyed vehicle, thus maintaining the combat power of the convoy

May 11, 2004 17 Ordnance and Tactical Systems Dismounted Overwatch l The dismounted ACSW provides additional security via a wider and better field of view than vehicle mounted l Employment in the 2 nd floor is less time consuming and requires less physical effort than dismounting the MK19 or M2 l Movement from primary to secondary positions is significantly quicker than with the M2 or MK19 because of the weight l ACSW tripod does not require sandbags because of low recoil

May 11, 2004 18 Ordnance and Tactical Systems Action on the Landing Zone l Reduced weight enables the gunner to mount the ACSW by himself and in less time, allowing more soldiers to perform security l This reduces the time available to the enemy to prepare for a counterattack, thus increasing combat effectiveness Scene 1Scene 2Scene 3

May 11, 2004 19 Ordnance and Tactical Systems Fast Roping the ACSW l The lightweight ACSW permits the establishment of a blocking position with a heavy caliber or grenade machinegun l The capability to fast rope allows a dramatic increase in dismounted blocking position firepower l Low system weight allows team to move weapon on ground as needed

May 11, 2004 20 Ordnance and Tactical Systems ACSW Summary l Provides New Weapon Capabilities l Passed All ATD Exit Criteria l Poised for the SDD Phase l Driving towards Low Rate Initial Production ACSW: Combat Weapon of the Future
