Renewable or Not As long as the sun shines,there will be wind on the earth. We will never run out of wind energy. It is a renewable energy source. It is also free since no one can own the sun or the air. magazine.mst.edu

Location The location of our resource is:Some place have more wind than other. Areas near the water usually have a lot of wind.Flat land and mountain passes are good places to catch the wind. francis.edu

Recovery Today we use big wind turbines to capture the wind. Sometime there are hundreds of wind turbines in one place. This is called a wind farm. Some wind turbines are as tall as 20-story building. eere.energy.gov

Uses Early Egyptians used the wind to sail ships on the Nile River.People still use wind to move them in the sail boats. The wind makes electricity. tonto.eia.doe.gov

Environmental Impact Wind is a clean energy source. Windmill don’t burn fuel,so they don’t pollute the air.Older windmill were sometime very noisy,but the new ones are not. Wind is a safe,clean energy source for making electricity. window.state.tx.us

Advantages and Disadvantages Advantages: Wind is free,wind farms need no fuel. The land beneath can usually still be used for farms. Disadvantages: The wind is not always predictable. Some people feel that covering the landscape with these towers is unsightly.
