INSETA LEARNERSHIPS PROCESS

2 Verification of Learnership Application INSETA ETQA requires education and training providers to submit to INSETA the following with the Learnership grant applications prior to learning starting: The name and level of the SAQA- registered qualification, its NLRD number and the concomitant unit standards. Training Provider’s accreditation number and scope for the qualification The list of teachers/facilitators/lecturers and confirmation of their qualifications. The list of assessors and moderators for the qualification.

3 Verification of Learnership Application (Cont) The title of the Learnership with its Start and End date of the Learnership The off-line NLRD uploaded version of all the learners registered for the Learnership, with the relevant assessors and moderators linked to the learners A copy of the curriculum and implementation plan for the Learnership A list of the learning material and other work books such as facilitators’ guides, learners’ guides and company guides A draft of the final summative assessment tool, and draft model answers. (This information is submitted by the learning provider, and not the lead company).

4 Verification of Learnership achievements Copies of the following documents are submitted to INSETA as part of the 6-monthly report, by the provider of education and training/learning provider: A list of the learners’ in the programme and their achievements to date (off-line NLRD version) Any assessors and moderators reports for learning that has been signed off, and for which the learner can have credits uploaded onto the NLRD Any assessment tools and marking memoranda used for the purpose of assessing learner achievements for credit uploads.

5 Verification prior to closure of the Learnership This verification is done at the education and training provider’s site, or the site where the education and training happened. Copies of the following documents must be available for the verification: The name of the education and training provider and the accreditation number and scope of accreditation The trading name of the education and training provider The CEO/Principal/Rector’s contact details The name and level of the qualification that was offered, with its concomitant unit standards, as registered on the SAQA NLRD database

6 Verification prior to closure of the Learnership (Cont) The name of the Learnership that was offered against the registered qualification. The off-line SMS (NLRD) version of the learners and their achievements for the final summative assessments, and other relevant assessments which count towards the final achievement The names, INSETA registration numbers and scope of the assessors and the moderators used for the Learnership The assessment tools and marking memoranda The assessor/s’ and moderator/s’ reports. The INSETA ETQA requires the moderators to be present on the day of verification. A 5% sample of the learners’ assessments and/or POEs must be available for verification.

7 Changes in the INSETA Learnerships processes. Learneships applications must be submitted to the INSETA from December to mid January of each year. Verifications of applications will be done in January so that training can commence in February. With effect from 2008, learnerships will be run within an academic year.
