1 Welcome To Marketing Mrs. Piotrowski (aka…Mrs. P.) Room 212 2015 - 2016

2 In this class, we will cover topics such as: What does marketing consist of? What is Market Research? Advertising, Promotion, Public Relations.. How to figure out what people need, what and why do they buy what they buy. How do marketers get you to buy products. How to avoid marketing scams. How to put your best foot forward How to write a proper letter, press release and… Much, much more…

3 How to be successful in this class: BE HERE AND BE ON TIME! BE PREPARED! (Bring your own supplies!) BE PREPARED! (Bring your own supplies!) BE READY TO START WHEN THE BELL RINGS Be WILLING, READY and ABLE to LEARN in a variety of ways. PARTICIPATE!!!

4 Everyday Class Needs: Textbook & Workbook (given to you) Notebook – 3 ring binder or folder….something to keep notes in…..you will receive notes and take notes on your own Pen, Pencil, Paper - you must have this with you everyday ! You MUST sign up for my class texts..take out cell phone now. aoht general aoht generalaohtgeneralaohtgeneral

5 Assignments will consist of: Workbook Pages News articles (some required, some extra credit) Internet Work Group and Individual Projects Guest Speaker Information Knowledge gained from videos

6 Grading, Tests and Quizzes: Homework and Participation is NOT optional. Homework and Participation is NOT optional. Qtr Ave: (subject to change) –Tests40% –Homework30% –Group Projects20% –Participation 10%

7 Final Exam in June covers everything we learned from September to June Final Exam in June covers everything we learned from September to June Extra Credit Articles and quizzes…?? Homework will NOT be accepted late….why??? It is not fair to those who hand them in on time AND I usually hand them back (with correct answers quickly.

8 Class Rules: 1.Be on time and prepared for class 2.Dress appropriately for school….follow the school dress code 3.Follow directions 4.Proper language will be used at all times 5.Respect will be given to me, other students and my equipment 6.There will be zero tolerance for bullying in my classroom. 7.Cell phones will be put into shoe bag upon entering class and taken out of bag upon exiting. 8.Remain in assigned seat until the bell rings.

9 Consequences for breaking any of the previously stated rules.. 1.One verbal warning 2.Depending on the offense, school policy will be followed for lates to class, inappropriate dress and cell phones will be confiscated. 3.If a severe situation would occur such as fighting, mouthing back to me, or public bullying, I would assess the situation to determine whether the student needs to be addressed in a different way or immediately removed from the class. 4.Call home to parent 5.Referral to administration

10 Other tools used in class: Apprentice Video..first season We Mean Business and Shark Tank Videos You Tube info.. Computer/Internet Research on Company marketing activities Guest Speakers Our “Apprentice Company” at the end of the year…this may or may not happen… 
