Concept: The new organization must function to connect people and keep them in network. They are the most important resource for international exchange.

Connecting faculties Connecting five faculties (Humanities, Education, Engineering, Medicine, Bio- resources) of Mie University for the purpose of university-wide international exchange.

The university --- local communites Connecting the university with local communities dealing with multi-cultural issues/problems.

Program Ideas 1) (Japanese) language education partnership 2) International student database 3) Elementary school teacher training follow-up program 4) Volunteer work and cross-cultural communication training

1) (Japanese) language education partnership Mie University offers teaching materials and methodology to the partner universities with a Japanese language education program.

2) International student database Interantional students associated with Mie University in the past, present and future are linked and accessed through the database for orientation, research, guidance, events, aftercare and reunion.

3) Elementary School teachaer training follow-up program The teacher training program for developing countries continues after study at Mie University linking teachers ’ home schools, home government, Mie University, and non- government organizations (NGO) in Mie.

4) Volunteer work and cross-cultural communication training Japanese students experience overseas language training, volunteer work in developing countries, on campus for international students and visitors, and/or in local communities, takes courses on cross-cultural communication and get credited.
