Japanese Civilization & Culture Class Unit Theme (Each unit completes in 20 days) Content Unit-1 Annual Events & Calendar 日本の年間行事とカレンダー Festivals, Food, Customs, Religions, Season Haiku. Unit-2 History, People and lifestyle 日本の歴史と人々の生活 History, Government, Politics, Famous people, Architecture, Clothing, Cooking. Unit-3 Science & Technology 日本の科学と技術 Technology, Science, Business, Weather, Disasters, Geography. Unit-4 Geography & Travel 日本の地理と旅行 Geography, Weather, Products, Customs, Sightseeing, Food, History, Transportation

Example of Lesson Unit-1 theme: Annual Events & Calendar 日本の年間行事とカレンダー Use technology to research Japanese annual events in a month. Organize information digitally and give oral presentation based on 5 W. Find photo or drawing that match with a month they researched and create Haiku then add it on the Japanese calendar. NH.COD.3.3: Use readily available technology tools and digital literacy skills to present cultural information in the target language. Research: Web Research Presentation: Power Point presentation or any other digital programs. Product: Create Haiku and type it on the Japanese calendar. Formative (25%) : Home work check, Preparation of their presentations, Student & Teacher pre conference of presentation. Summative (75%): Oral Presentation measured by rubric. (Peer assessment 50% + Teacher assessment 50%) Product measured by rubric and Tests.
