4 Memo SP 29-2014 Consolidated Appropriations Act Report Language on Waivers for School Breakfast and Smart Snacks USDA will not be providing waivers for the School Breakfast and Smart Snacks requirements that go into effect on July 1, 2014

9 Community Eligibility Provision An alternative to collecting household applications for free and reduced price meals in high poverty schools LEAs, schools or group of schools must have an Identified Student Percentage of 40% or more to participate The list of eligible and near eligible LEAs is now available on our website at: http://fns.dpi.wi.gov/fns_cep http://fns.dpi.wi.gov/fns_cep The school listing will be available by May 1, 2014

10 Wellness Policy Proposed Rule PE Teachers and School Health Professionals can participate in the LWP – (new!) Goals for LWP need to include nutrition promotion – (new!) ◦ Should use evidenced-based strategies New policy for food & beverage marketing – (new!) Comment period open through April 28, 2014

12 Production Records A friendly reminder that production records must be kept for all meals served, indicating all food items, including milk and condiments. USDA says, “If it’s not on the production record, it didn’t happen”.
