3. GERMANY CONTINUED Peasants war began in Germany (1525) Started because Luther showed peasants how unhappy they were They revolted against the nobility 70,000-100,000 peasants were killed

ITALY Controlled by Spain (Charles V) Italy was mostly Catholic, but had some Protestants 1545- leader of the Catholic Church got together in Northern Italy City of Trent To talk about the corruptions and how to gain more power against the Protestants After the Council of Trent more holy orders were established by the Catholic Church

ITALY CONTINUED Pope Paul III gave approval to Ignatius of Loyola Ignatius of Loyola is the founder of the Jesuits (Society of Jesus) The Jesuits is a Catholic Holy Order There mission is to reconvert other small and large heretics Another Holy Order is called The Roman Inquisition establish in 1542 There goal was to suppress Lutheranism (Another Catholic heresy)
