8 Nonprofit Strategic Management Based on the Mission  A nonprofit’s mission provides social justification for its existence.  The mission should reflect the mandates that govern the organization.  The organizational values are a statement of the ethical standards of the organization.  The values should be stated in the mission indicating how the mission will be accomplished.

9 Assessing the Mission  Who are we as an organization?  What political or social problems do we address?  How do we recognize and respond to problems?  How should we respond to our key stakeholders?  What is our philosophy and our core values?  What makes us distinctive or unique?
