Poor WebQuests… / Are based around paper-based worksheets that are simply converted into web pages, possibly with links to web resources / Ask close-ended questions or seek to result in neat, convergent outcomes for students / Are of little personal relevance to students / Are based around tasks/issues that do not address real, authentic problems with applications beyond the classroom / Do not interest, engage and motivate students / Are pitched at too high or low a level for the target audience (ie, not challenging enough or “crush” students) / N.B. Vygotsky’s Zones of Proximal Development (ZPD) / Have poorly defined assessment/evaluation criteria (eg, rubrics that focus on quantity but not quality) / Are based around paper-based worksheets that are simply converted into web pages, possibly with links to web resources / Ask close-ended questions or seek to result in neat, convergent outcomes for students / Are of little personal relevance to students / Are based around tasks/issues that do not address real, authentic problems with applications beyond the classroom / Do not interest, engage and motivate students / Are pitched at too high or low a level for the target audience (ie, not challenging enough or “crush” students) / N.B.
