There are different attitudes to equal rights for women in religion among muslims.

Some Muslims believe men and women should have different roles in life and religion, and therefore they should have different rights

The Quran teaches that men should support women because God made men physically stronger The Quran teaches that women have been created to bear children and men to provide for them The Quran teaches that men need more money than women to be the family providers It is traditional for only men to attend the mosque and to be imams

7 The modern attitude Some Muslims believe men and women should have completely equal rights in religion and education

The Quran teaches that men and women are equal in religion and education There is evidence that Mohamed encouraged both men and women to worship in the mosque There were women religious leaders during the early stages of Islam They have been affected by non religious arguments for equal rights for women

9 Sikhism and equal rights for women
There are different attitude to equal rights for women in religion in sikhism

10 The religious attitude
Sikhism teaches the complete equality of men and women, and so most Sikhs believe women should have equal rights in religion Because Guru Nanak taught that male and female to seen as two haves of a whole who therefore have equal rights

11 Equal rights for women was the teaching of all the gurus
The Guru Granth Sahib teaches that God is neither male nor female The Guru Granth Sahib teaches that men and women have so much in common that thy must be treated the same

12 The cultural attitude Some Sikhs believe men and women should have equal roles and so cannot have equal rights in religion. They believe women should look after the home and children, not be religious leaders Most Sikhs come from Punjab were women are not given equal rights. In Punjab society girls are treated as property of their father and then their husbands
