Reference Color Wheel

Construct a color wheel Use 8 1 / 2 ” x 11” paper to construct a reference color wheel to keep in your notebook.

1. Use a protractor to construct a circle Mark the following angles: 0˚, 30˚, 60˚, 90˚, 120˚ 150˚, 180˚

2. Use a ruler to connect angles: Top 90˚, lower 30˚, & 150˚. You have drawn a triangle within a circle.

3. Use a ruler to connect angles: Lower 90˚, top 30˚ & 150 ˚ You will see a triangle behind a triangle within a circle.

4. On the top-most triangle, use a ruler to draw lines from the center to the mid-point of each side.

5. Mark each section with the correct colors of the spectrum. ROY G BIV Red, orange, yellow Green, blue, violet –Yellow-red, yellow-green, –Red-orange, red-violet, –Blue-green, blue-violet

6. Primary colors in the top triangle. Yellow at the top Red on the left Blue on the right

7. Yellow and red make orange Red and blue make violet Blue and yellow make green Secondary colors in the bottom triangle.

8. Yellow & orange = yellow-orange Orange & red= orange-red Red and violet make red-violet Violet & blue = violet-blue Blue & green = blue-green Green & yellow = green-yellow Intermediate colors in the bottom circle.
