Possessives Examples: Do NOT confuse possessive pronouns with contractions! Its vs. It’s Their vs. They’re or There Your vs. You’re Theirs vs. There’s Whose vs. Who’s

Interrogatives Ask questions (do NOT use a noun after these words!!!) Who, Whom, Whose, and Who’s _____ is used as subject or PN _____ is used as the DO or OP Practice: To (who, whom) did you give the letter? (Who, whom) committed the crime? (Who, whom) are you taking to the dance?

Demonstratives Point out a specific thing or person (do NOT use a noun after these words!!!) This, That, Those, These __________________ are close by __________________ are far away __________________ are singular __________________ are plural Ex.: This is the “City of Brotherly Love.” ***NEVER SAY “this here” or “that there”!

Reflexives and Intensives All end with –self or –selves The words ____________ and _____________ DO NOT EXIST! Reflexive are necessary in the sentence Intensive are not necessary Practice: You should give yourself a treat after rehearsal. Allison herself liked listening to rap music.

R and I cont. Do NOT use R or I if a personal pronoun can be used! Ex.: Ray and myself went to the new Spiderman movie. (should be “I” instead of “myself”) Practice: Can you picture ____________ living in a completely different country? (R or I?) Darren ____________ was pleased with his high grade on the test. (R or I?)
