Minilesson (con’t): Percent helps us think within our decimal system. Percent comes from “per cent” meaning “per every hundred” [Like dollars per pound, mph, etc.] The word “cent” is found in our money system (a great analogy for percent.” The word “cent” is found in the words century and centimeters.

Minilesson (con’t): You convert fractions to N/100 by converting the original fraction to an equivalent fraction with denominator of 100. X 5 = 15 %

HW # 12 Due Monday Answer the following word problem, and then the questions listed in our textbook. While playing the game of Monopoly, Joseph saw that he had $2,743 in his account consisting of a certain number of each of the following denominations: $500’s, $100’s, $20’s and $1’s. The number of $500-bills was two less than the number of $100-bills. The number of $20-bills was equal to the number of $100-bills. The number of single dollar bills was 5 more than 3 times the number of $100-bills. How many of each denomination did Joseph have? Textbook: Read
