5. Wellington Wellington is the capital where I used to live. It is the wind capital as well. Wellington has lots of backcountry right on its doorstep.

6. Queenstown Queenstown is a city on the edge of a lake surrounded by mountains. It has great tramping, bungee jumping and skiing. Its also known as a party town.
