4. Achieve. Belong. Participate Pathway 1: GCSE Science + GCSE Additional Science GCSE Science was started in Year 9. Exams are taken in the May of Year 10. There are 3 (B1/C1/P1) and a controlled assessment task (coursework). Each is worth 25% of the final mark/grade. Each exam paper is worth 60 marks and will take 1 hour to complete. GCSE Additional Science is started after the exams in Year 10. Exams are taken at the end of Year 11 (B2/C2/P2) and a further controlled assessment task is completed.

5. Achieve. Belong. Participate Pathway 2: GCSE Science + GCSE Additional Science + GCSE Further Additional Science Accelerated Students study three extra examined units (B3/C3/P3). Students complete an extra controlled assessment task (three in total). The content is identical to separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics – our approach means we spread out the exams and controlled assessment

6. Achieve. Belong. Participate All GCSE exams have been terminal for the last couple of years (no retakes). All qualifications have become more challenging. Students will receive an A*-G grade in core, additional and further additional science. This is the same as their non-core subjects. Changes
