2. We offer the following Edexcel science courses: GCSE or core science. Additional science. Triple sciences – biology, chemistry and physics.

3. GCSE or core science Taught by a subject specialists on a rotational basis. For each unit they sit a 1 hour exam: B1 unit = 25% C1 unit = 25% P1 unit = 25% Plus a controlled assessment (course work) = 25%. Tiered entry: Higher tier (C-A* grade). Foundation tier (G-C grade). One GCSE grade (G-C) awarded in June 2017.

5. Triple science Taught by a subject specialists on a rotational basis. For each GCSE they sit a 3x1 hour exams: B1, B2 & B3 unit = 75% C1, C2 & C3 unit = 75% P1, P2 & P3 unit = 75% Plus a controlled assessment (course work) = 25%. Tiered entry: Higher tier (C-A* grade). Foundation tier (G-C grade). 3 separate GCSE grades (G-A*) for biology, chemistry and physics awarded in June 2017.

6. Other information Letters for revision guides will be going home this week and put on the school website. Year 10 will be having their next interim assessments the w/b 2/11/15 and 1/12/15 – check show my homework. 3 mock papers in Jan/Feb/Mar 2016 – check show my homework. At least 3 mock exams in December 2016 (Y11). At least 3 mock exams Jan/Feb 2017 (Y11).

7. Other information They will be taught specific study skills as part of the course e.g. mind mapping and revision cards. They should do a minimum of 3 hours revision. Remember kids are crafty!! If you are told “I don’t have any homework” – get them to revise by making a glossary, revision cards or going on: GCSE bbc bitesize science edexcel. GCSE science past papers edexcel. Help them to succeed: Folders for revision notes etc. Planning how to use their time & revision time tables. Regular exercise, good diet and a good nights sleep.
