Mackenzie Valley Standard Procedures & Consistency Working Groups Plan Review Process and Guidelines (PRPG working group)

Purpose: To develop a standard process for the review of management plans and to develop standard guidelines and/or templates for each common management plan under a water licence or land use permit within the Mackenzie Valley.

What we’re working on right now... Develop Guidelines & Templates for Management Plans Identify Management Plans of Interest & Collect Information

Spill Contingency INAC has “Spill Contingency Guidelines” in place – WLWB have officially adopted these and MVLWB currently use them, Several stakeholders have recommended the use of these guidelines for several projects PRPG working group may make this recommendation with our final product

Aquatic Effects Monitoring Plan (AEMP) In 2006, INAC began the process of creating AEMP guidelines INAC has held several workshops PRPG working group has provided comments to INAC on how they should proceed with the development of these guidelines

Waste Management Plan Working group members are currently working on this internally Have developed a preliminary table of contents Intending to send out to a consultant to review once complete

Closure & Reclamation/Abandonment & Restoration Plan Two separate guidelines – Oil & Gas – Mining Internal work and consultant help so far Will be circulate for general review

Adaptive Management Plan (AdMP) WLWB currently dealing with BHP Billiton and Diavik AdMPs Have developed a preliminary table of contents with DRAFT content When complete, PRPG working group will determine how we can use it for all of the LWBs

Ammonia Management Plan Development of template on hold Will investigate relevance later

Uranium Management Plan??? WLWB has a DRAFT Uranium Policy going out for review by 2008 Once in place, working group will consider a template for a Uranium Management Plan
