2 1. Draw a circle map in groups – What is it like in Zambia ?

3 Pupils thought that : It is hot and dry People ride on animals They are all black They are all poor They eat mangoes No electricity They hunt animals or grow mangoes as jobs There is no water

5 2. Pupils looked at photos of Chililabombwe, Zambia in groups The photos included images of a modern,affluent African society – a professional football team modern shops Modern classrooms mining affluent streets and houses

8 3. Letter writing Pupils used these questions and images to draft and write a letter to a Y4 pupil in our partner school in Chililabombwe. I then delivered these letters to the partner classes

13 5. A tale of 2 schools in Chililabombwe : Pupils look at my photos

17 7. Redo circle maps : What is it like to live in Zambia ? Far more informed and balanced comments : Some people are rich some are poor It is rainy and hot Some people have shops and computers They eat fish, chicken, rice and caterpillars.
