Mapping study from Japanese manufacturing SME business document to UBL V2.0 and SBS V1.0 (1/3) 1. Background- JPLSC has been asked to compare UBL SBS and the Japanese manufacturing SME business document (developed by ECOM) by UBL SBSC. 2. Results of the mapping study (Order business document) No. of BIEs of Japanese SME BD Mapped BIEs to UBL V2.0 Mapped BIEs to SBS V1.0 Significant BIEs71 Direct mapped BIEs 46 (65% ) Direct mapped BIEs 21 (30% ) Substituted mapped BIEs 6 (8%) Substituted mapped BIEs 5 (7%) Not mapped BIEs 19 (27% ) Not mapped BIEs 45 (63% ) Total 71 (100 %) Total 71 (100 %) Irrelevant BIEs (e.g. Japanese Kanji) 12 Total83

Mapping study from Japanese manufacturing SME business document to UBL V2.0 and SBS V1.0 (2/3) 3. Evaluation to UBL V2.0 - 73% BIEs (including Direct mapped BIEs and substituted mapped BIEs) of the Japanese Manufacturing SME business document are mapped to fullset UBL V2.0. - The percentage of mapping impossible BIEs is 27%. However, this issue would not become big problems. Almost mapping impossible BIEs are optional BIEs and will be settled by operational level countermeasures. - When judging the mapping results overall, the Japanese manufacturing SME business document is almost mapped to UBL V2.0. By adopting operational level countermeasures, the interoperable e-business between the Japanese Manufacturing SME business document and UBL V2.0 will be possible.

Mapping study from Japanese manufacturing SME business document to UBL V2.0 and SBS V1.0 (3/3) 4. Evaluation to SBS V1.0 - 37% BIEs of the Japanese Manufacturing SMS Business Document are mapped to SBS V1.0. - 64% BIEs are not mapped to SBS V1.0. - It will be difficult to adopt SBS in Japanese marketplace, because many BIEs are not included in SBS BIEs. The mapping percentage of Japanese major business document to SBS V1.0 is small comparing fullset UBL V2.0. - If SBS V1.0 would be revised based on UBL V2.0, the mapping percentage of Japanese major business document to SBS would be much bigger. - The birth and background of both UBL SBS and Japanese Manufacturing SME business document is different each other. Therefore, it will be natural to think that these two business documents have many differences.

Study of UBP and BPSS 1. Background 2. Study Results 3. Thought and trend of BPSS in Japan 4. Providing BPSS sample - JPLSC has been asked to study UBP (Universal Business Process) and BPSS by ebXML BPTC. - JPLSC has checked some BPSS instances in UBP roughly. - JPLSC has thought that the BPSS instances are well designed. - JEITA has developed XML based new standard named ECALGA. ECALGA has adopted ebMS, ebCPPA, and ebBP. - JEITA has developed BPSS instances of 8 Complex business collaborations. - But, the deployment of the BPSS in Japan is very little. - The sample BPSS instances were provided to ebBP TC from JEITA. The samples were uploaded on the ebBP TC page in the OASIS web site.

Related activities concerning UBL in Japan 1.ECOM (Electronic Commerce Promotion Council of Japan) -ECOM developed a business document named ‘Japanese manufacturing SME business document’ in 2004. This business document is a subset of ECALGA. -ECOM did mapping study from ‘Japanese manufacturing SME business document (ECALGA based)’ to UBL in 2004. -In this mapping studying process, ECOM developed a UBL subset for e- business between SMEs and big enterprises in Japan. 2.Common XML/EDI Practice Promotion Council (COXEC) -The Common XML/EDI Practice Promotion Council (COXEC) has been established in May, 2004. This council promote next generation common XML/EDI system for not only big enterprises but also SMEs. -This council developed the Common XML/EDI framework. -The business document in this Common XML/EDI framework is ‘Japanese manufacturing SME business document (ECALGA based)’ and UBL subset.
