I have been accepted to LCC for the 2011 school year next fall. I was drawn into this school because of the programs offered, and how close it was to my home. LCC offers a Police academy and Fire academy The Police academy caught my attention because it is one of the best academies in Michigan. The fire academy caught my attention because I have always wanted to become a firefighter and help people. The cost was a bigger factor in me liking and applying to this college. The cost is very cheap in comparison to most colleges.

I am thinking I am going to become a fire fighter. Lcc has a great program, one of the best in the state of Michigan. This job, will let me do a couple things I have always wanted to do. I have always wanted to help people I have always wanted to save lives, and protect the public from dangerous situations
5
Step 1- fill out application Step2- you need to be Eighteen years of age or older and member of an organized Michigan Fire Department or a pre-service student registered through a recognized College or University based Regional Training Center. (Like LCC) Step3- Most departments require an agility and written test, oral board interview, and a psychological exam(The psychologist is not your friend).. You pass each exam to be considered for a job.
6
Step4- apply for a job in your area or surrounding area( this my take some time, fire depots get hundreds of apps each year, so this could be a long wait or process… (Be Patient) !!!! Step5-Mentally and physically prepare your self for the tests, these are used to weed out the people and shrink the size of the pool to a small group for an interview. Step6-Make sure you pass a medical exam and a drug screen

An average fire fighter makes between 35,000- 50,000 dollars a year, but as you rank up in the job from a low level fire fighter ( where you start out at) to a fire inspector or chief can make 50,000- to 80,000 dollars a year. On average it will take just about 3-5 years to become a full time fire fighter and land a steady job.

I want to help people I want to possibly be remembered after I am gone I want to know that people would then look up to me for guidance when they are scared My uncle was a fire fighter for 27 years, and I have always been interested in it It’s a Nobel job
10
I will go to Lcc to get an college education ( pay with cash or grants I can get) after the 2 years there I will then apply for a the fire academy The education I will take will be in a business field, either to invest money, or running a business Hopefully get into the fire academy, and become a fire fighter and make a living, doing something I want to do.
